Hello from Cathy Andronicou with a fun and fabulous idea for using SRM Doilies! This tutorial post is long but I think you will find it worth it!
I recently saw an amazing card and video by Bibiana Martinez-Ziegler HERE and thought how cool it would be to alter Bibina's design and create with doilies and inks. I checked with her to make sure that she was ok with my idea and she was so we are good to go! The principle of how it is put together is the same, but with a few of my own tweaks. Can you believe that those flowers are SRM doilies? Amazing!
Here are the SRM products that I used in this project:
SRM White Lace Doilies 4" round, Fancy Sticker Sentiments Birthday, Sticker Sentiments Happy Birthday.
Other products used: Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko Memento Ink Pear Tart, Rose Bud and Lilac Posies, Copic Marker RV17, Spellbinders Bitty Blooms die (leaves), Marianne Die Branch, Duch Doobadoo stencil Chicken Wire, Pink Ribbon, Pearl Flower Stamens, Green and Pink card.
Other products used: Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko Memento Ink Pear Tart, Rose Bud and Lilac Posies, Copic Marker RV17, Spellbinders Bitty Blooms die (leaves), Marianne Die Branch, Duch Doobadoo stencil Chicken Wire, Pink Ribbon, Pearl Flower Stamens, Green and Pink card.
And here is a tutorial on how to create it. To see larger images, simply click on the photos.
1. Create flowers by inking the doilies, then fold in 1/2, then 1/4 and then 1/8, cut a wedge using the lines of one of the segments as a guide, then cut the top so you get a decorative edge, glue the wedges either side of the cut together to form your flower and then glue stamen in the middle.
2. Don't throw away the wedge you cut out, curl and place to one side for the front of the card.
3. Arrange all the flowers and glue as per Bibiana's video. Add leaves, sentiment and border stickers.
4. The SRM Fancy Birthday Stickers and pink rick rack borders add the perfect touch!
5. For the front, group the curled wedges and glue to form a flower just beginning to bloom, attach to green card that has been stenciled with chicken wire pattern and add branch die, mount onto pink card and place ribbon behind to tie the card closed. Mount onto main card.
6. Add sentiment to finish!
Thank you to Bibiana Martinez-Ziegler for her inspiration. What a talent! I had such a great time creating this project. I hope that you will give it a try!
