Summer Layout by Shantaie

Looking for some inspiration for summer layouts?  Look no further.  Shantaie Fowler is a genius with her Silhouette and decided to create a lovely summer layout that has lots of die cutting involved.  I love the 3-D, multi layered effect of what Shantaie has created.  She cut out the large sun with her Silhouette, stitched it down and then started laying her stickers.  Love how she used a SRM Doily to anchor her beautiful family photo.

Here's an up close view of all the amazing details that are part of this intricate layout.  In addition to all the lovely layering, Shantaie also loves adding SRM Sticker Borders as a quick way to add color and interest.  And Sticker Stitches… well, they show up frequently on Shantaie's work.

The fabulous flower is made from SRM's Teal Punched Pieces.  How fun is that!

Shantaie loves clear SRM Sticker sentiments since they can be woven into any project looking as if they were printed on the paper. All the stickers used on this layout are from SRM's Water Fun collection.

Thanks for this happy summer layout Shantaie.  Your work is an inspiration!

Happy Summer {Card} by Shannon

Shannon Morgan is getting "punchy" using lots of SRM Punched Pieces on her cards.  She loves the 3 different sizes and the 10 different colors.  They make the creative possibilities endless.

Let's take a look at Shannon's fabulous layered summer card.  And let's have Shannon, in her own words, tell us about her creative process.

"I focus a lot on layers when I am creating. I always start with a base and build from that. Usually, my focus is also on colors. I think the key to layering is colors that compliment each other. Look at this card and you will see a trend. I started with the orange, placed the aqua on top. The yellow punched piece was placed on top of that. That becomes my base."

Shannon loves the new punched pieces.  Note how she splattered alcohol inks to decorated the large yellow punched piece and then added a bit of bling.

"From there I tuck things here and like the additional punched piece, the fish and placing the tag just slightly askew. I then added the beach ball and flip flops. They are adhered to vellum, so while they add a layer, they don't take away from what's behind them."

Shannon loves using vellum, twine and staples on her cards and layouts.  They are all part of the laying process.

"The beauty of vellum, is I can add a foam dot behind the solid part of the sticker and no one is the wiser...adding dimension without sacrificing design. Wrapping twine around the card also adds a layer (that's an easy way to add dimension...if you're having trouble getting it to look just so, add a dab of clear glue behind the twine). Staples are also a big impact without sacrificing space."

Wouldn't you love to be a fly on the wall watching Shannon create? We hope you'll give all of Shannon's little tricks a try!  And we hope that this blog post has been a "Shannon Tutorial" so that you can make cards as fun and free as the one we have shared today!  And remember that SRM's Sentiments are printed on clear and look like they were printed on your cards!

Happy Summer by Shannon

Today we welcome Shannon Morgan back to the SRM Design Team.  She's one of the **Emeritus** members.  Sometimes when you start using SRM Stickers you become addicted and this was the case with Shannon!  She's hooked!

When Shannon plays with paper and stickers the results are magical!  I would love to watch her work on a layout or card as she layers so many wonderful little details into her project.  This summer layout is no exception with fabulous photos of her kids playing in summer.

I love how Shannon puts SRM Stickers right onto her photo.  They melt down onto any surface as if they are printed on that surface, even photos.  And she loves the impact of the sticker without losing the effect of any of the photo.

Shannon loves how she can layer with SRM and loves the look of vellum in the mix.  YUM!

The use of SRM Borders and Sticker Stitches are so much fun on this layout!

Love the way the SRM Sticker looks mounted on vellum with that "Sunny Smiles" sticker.

For Shannon, crafting is in the details but the overall effect is so free and fun!  Hope that you'll try some of Shannon's techniques on your next layout.  Click on each photo to enlarge so you can see every detail!

Project Life Summer Pages by Laurel

Welcome to day #2 of our Project Life mini feature.

Laurel Seabrook loves Project Life and loves her SRM Stickers.  Here's what happens when she puts them together.  To see more details, just click on the photos.  Let's hear from Laurel in her own words...

"I love how easy it is to add all the little details to my Project Life pages using the SRM Stickers."

"Don't be afraid to trim your stickers.  On the bottom left pocket, I only wanted the word 'Hooray' not the whole sentiment 'Hooray USA' from the Patriotic Set so I just trimmed it."

"One of my favorite things to do is to place the stickers right onto the photos themselves."

Thanks Laurel for sharing your Summer Fun with us in your Project Life pages.  What a fun solution to keeping track of family activities.

SRM Stickers are simply perfect for using on Project Life.  Just ask Laurel!
Be sure to join us tomorrow when Latrice Murphy shares her bright Project Life style.

Summer Mini Album by Amy

Amy Duff assembled a Summer mini album using tags and journal brackets along with lots of stickers and fun photos. Amy says, "I used stickers from Express Yourself #42039 Water Fun, Sticker Sentiments #51011 Summer, and We've got Your Border #57002 Birthday. I like using various shapes to create the unique shape. This mini was easy so much fun to complete using a few scraps of paper and tags plus a couple of sticker sheets. I hope my daughter likes it." We know she will!

Teri Anderson is up tomorrow, you'll adore the fun cards she cooked up for her Guest Designer day!
