Reindeer Decor with Metallic Vinyl by Samantha

Hello! Samantha here today to share some Christmas home decor. The second I received SRM's gorgeous metallic and holographic vinyl I knew I had to use it for some Christmas decorating. I decided to combine it with a shadow box I had sitting in my stash to make this Reindeer Decor.

I like to create wall art with my Silhouette. Sometimes I design it myself, and sometimes I buy files from the Silhouette shop. There was the perfect file for what I wanted to do in the Silhouette shop, so I was able to save some time (and you know I'm always a bit short on time around Christmas) and buy the fun reindeer name cutting file instead of creating one.

When I'm creating with multiple vinyl colors, sometimes I like to try out the colors in the Silhouette software before cutting into my vinyl. You can see above what I mean. The colors aren't a perfect representation, but it helps me visualize exactly how I want to lay things out.

For this project I chose metallic gold vinyl, metallic silver vinyl, and red holographic vinyl. Pictures just don't do this vinyl justice. It's gorgeous and so rich looking in person. It cuts beautifully with the Silhouette Cameo, too!

This reindeer decor with metallic vinyl is a really fun but elegant way to add something handmade to my Christmas decorations. What are you crafting for Christmas this year?

Create Your Own Vinyl Nail Stickers with Tessa

Hello from Tessa Wise!  It's summer time and who doesn't love pretty nails in the summer!  All the fun, bright colored nail polish comes out along with some great designer embellishments.  I thought I'd experiment and see if I could create some of my own embellishments using SRM Vinyl and my Silhouette Cameo.

I chose to work with the glossy metallic gold vinyl but any of the SRM vinyl
would work for this.  I found a few simple designs in my Silhouette library and shrunk them down to less than half of an inch tall.  You can see the designs I chose and the size they are compared to the background grid:

I set the machine up to cut my vinyl and sent it through.  Amazingly, my machine had no problem cutting such tiny designs!

I peeled away the extra background vinyl leaving only the cut shapes on the backing.  Aren't they cute!

I painted my nails in a pretty coral color and let them dry completely.

Then I simply lifted the stickers off with my picker tool, being careful not to touch the back of the vinyl with my fingers.

I layed them down on my nails and pressed over them with my fingers so they were stuck down well.  With the zig zags, I cut the edges so they fit the width of my nails.

I sealed them with a clear top coat and let them dry completely.  Once the top coat was dry, they were good to go!  The stickers lasted as long as my mani did and looked so pretty in the sunshine!

I am so happy with how this little experiment turned out!  I'm going to try it again soon with tiny flowers! :)  Thanks for stopping by the SRM blog today! Now go check out all the arm Vinyl choices and plan your own nail party!

Spellbinders & SRM Vinyl by Yvonne

Yvonne Yam loves creating gift boxes especially when the packaging can be reused by the recipient.  When Yvonne got her new Gold Metallic SRM Vinyl, she saw gift wrapping written all over it!

Using SRM Gold Metallic Vinyl, Yvonne cut out a delicate Spellbinders swirl frame.  You can make lots of goodies out of one 12" x 24" sheet!

Yvonne than added some glittered card stock and a Thinking of You Sticker Sentiment at the base and some beautiful blooms at the top.

Yvonne created an insert for the Clear A2 box using heavyweight card stock and adhered lace to it.  What a great way to add some textural interest and cover up the gift that's inside the box.

Yvonne tucked some treats inside her beautiful box.  What a lovely gift to give a friend, a teacher or co-worker.

I wonder what else Yvonne is going to do with that Gold Metallic SRM Vinyl?

Stay tuned for more vinyl inspiration tomorrow when Angélique creates a fun party game using SRM Vinyl on our final day of "Vinyl Week" here on the SRM Blog.  Be sure to leave a comment for a chance to WIN our stash of SRM Vinyl.  It just might be YOU!
