Small Things with Great Love by Shannon

Good Morning SRM fans!  Shannon here and so excited about SRM's new Chalkboard products!  You've seen a ton of inspiration featuring the new Chalkboard Markers being offered at SRM! It's my turn to show how versatile these markers really are...and chalkboards are all the craze now, even after the trend seems to have been around forever.  So I guess it's more than a trend, it's an essential basic!

I created this canvas using the Easy Chalkboard Marker, the Bistro Markers 6 mm tip (both White and Fluorescent) & the Bistro Markers Fine Tip (both Fluorescent and White).  In fact, I used every Chalkboard product that SRM offers!

The markers are so fluid, yet they give you the ease of marking exactly how you want to! This is an 8X10 canvas, I seasoned the "Blackboard" before adding the quote.  Here's a link to how you can season almost any surface:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msr9CpNBNcE#t=18

Here's what I created….

Here are some close ups of the quote and texture.  Love how the fine tip creates the bright dots in the background.  I love the way this turned out and can't wait to make more in the future!

Chalkboard Frame Teacher's Gift by Tessa Wise

Aren't you loving the chalkboard craze?  It's Tessa Wise joining you today with another chalkboard gift idea!  I created this one for my oldest daughter's teacher.

SRM Stickers Blog - Chalkboard Frame Teacher's Gift by Tessa Wise - #gift #teacher #chalkmarkers #chalkboard #school #stickers #twine #DIY

I bought the frame at the store.  It was pretty on it's own but so much more fun to personalize!  I cut a piece of black polka-dot paper to 8x10 and put it inside the frame.

The new Bistro Chalk Markers are perfect for writing on glass.  They don't smudge easily and wipe right off when you're ready.  I drew a little welcome sign on it but I think it would be cute with spelling words, a countdown to a special day, or test reminders, too!

SRM Stickers Blog - Chalkboard Frame Teacher's Gift by Tessa Wise - #gift #teacher #chalkmarkers #chalkboard #school #stickers #twine #DIY

I added a few details to the frame to make it a little more fun.  A couple of chipboard stickers from Simple Stories were the perfect embellishment to the corners.  I wrapped the top with Cantaloupe Baker's Twine and tied it in a bow at the corner as well.

At the bottom, I added this definition sticker from the Say It With Stickers Mini Sheet: Fourth Grade Sticker Sheet.  It was the perfect last touch!

Mrs. Trachsel has been such a great teacher this year!  My daughter can't wait to give it to her on Teacher Appreciation Day.  I'm going to wrap it up with a set of the fine tipped Bistro Chalk Markers too!  I hope she likes it!

Graduation Chalked Muslin Bags by Annette

Hello SRM Stickers friends.  Annette Allen here with you today to share a new product and a fun way to use it. Let's get started.

SRM Stickers Blog - Graduation Chalked Muslin Bags by Annette -#chalkboard #blackboard #markers #muslinbags #stickers #graduation #favor #giftbag #DIY

SRM Stickers now carries Marvy Uchida Chalk markers…YAY!  I am sharing how you can use them on SRM Stickers Muslin BagsOn today's project I am using SRM Muslin Bags/Medium 4x6.

SRM Stickers Blog - Graduation Chalked Muslin Bags by Annette - #markers #chalkboard #EASYchalkboard #stickers #graduation, #giftbag #fluorescent

I first started with using the Marvy Uchida EASY Chalk Board Marker extra-wide tip. I masked off the area and also added this fun silhouette from Hazel & Ruby.

SRM Stickers Blog - Graduation Chalked Muslin Bags by Annette - #markers #chalkboard #EASYchalkboard #stickers #graduation, #giftbag #fluorescent

TIP:  I recommend putting a piece of paper inside the bag to absorb any of the marker that leaks through the muslin bag.

SRM Stickers Blog - Graduation Chalked Muslin Bags by Annette - #markers #chalkboard #EASYchalkboard #stickers #graduation, #giftbag #fluorescent

With it being March it is time to start planning for those graduates.  I used SRM Stickers: Stickers By the Dozen (Graduation).  I first added the graduation hat to a piece of card stock then adhered to the muslin bag, next I added these fun sentiments to add to the celebration. SRM Stickers adhere very nicely to these muslin bags.

You can also personalize with color like I have done on these.  I used Marvy Uchida Bistro Chalk Marker Fluorescent Pink and Fluorescent Blue.

Thanks for stopping by!
Happy Chalking.

Life is Good with Chalkboard Marker by Stacey

Hey there, SRM Stickers fans!
Stacey here with my take on the new Easy Chalkboard Marker!

SRM Stickers Blog - Life is Good with Chalkboard Marker by Stacey - #chalkboard #blackboard #markers #card #lifeisgood #janesdoodles #clearstamps #DIY

I stamped the jar from the Jane's Doodles Clear Stamp/Life is Good set over a piece of vellum and asked my new stamping buddy, Heather Campbell, to color in those yummy strawberries.  Thank you, Heather!  The jar, sentiment and berries were adhered over the chalkboard background and topped off with a super cute Reverse Confetti banner.

Chalkboard To Do List by Christine

I love the versatility of chalkboard!  Christine joining you today to show you how you can make that boring and intimidating To Do list a little more fun by using Chalkboard Markers.

SRM Stickers Blog - Chalkboard To Do List by Christine - 3chalkboard #chalkmarkers #easychalkboardmarker #fluorescent chalkmarkers #alteredproject

My To Do list is always long but there are always certain things that are top priority and I am also liable to forget.  So I decided to use the new Chalkboard Markers to create a shorter - in your face list that can hang in my kitchen!

SRM Stickers Blog - Chalkboard To Do List by Christine - 3chalkboard #chalkmarkers #easychalkboardmarker #fluorescent chalkmarkers #alteredproject

I started with an inexpensive wood clipboard.  I then used the Easy Chalkboard Marker and just colored it.  I did two layers to ensure it was thick. I used some letter stickers to trace the "to do" part with Bistro Flurescent Chalk Markers.  You could totally freehand that if you are braver than me :)  I then created lines and boxes using the white fine tip  Bistro Chalk Markers and the 6 mm Bistro White Chalk Marker.  Because I was in a bright and cheery mood when I created this, I doodled some flowers using both the Fine Tip and 6 mm Flourescent Bistro Chalk Markers. I love that depending on my mood, I can change up the doodling or even just leave it plain and simple! Make a mistake or need to change your list?  Just take a damp cloth to remove it!  Super simple and super fun!

Lastly you add your to do's and then enjoy checking them off!

A Chalkboard Card Set by Tessa

Hi!  It's Tessa Wise with another fun chalkboard inspired project to share today.  I made a fun card set using on of SRM's Jane's Doodles Stamps and decorated an A2 Clear Card Box to match.

SRM Stickrs Blog - A Chalkboard Card Set by Tessa - #cards #cardset #chalkboard #markers #twine #stickers #clearstamps #janesdoodles, #giftset

Here are the cards... I created them using a simple chalkboard stamping technique.
 SRM Stickrs Blog - A Chalkboard Card Set by Tessa - #cards #cardset #chalkboard #markers #twine #stickers #clearstamps #janesdoodles, #giftset

I started by creating four different colored card bases.  I embossed two with embossing folders.  Next, I diecut some journaling cards out of the black polka-dot patterned paper.  I pulled out a white ink pad and a sponge next and swiped the edges and parts of the fronts with the ink.  I splattered each card with white mist and let them dry.

 SRM Stickrs Blog - A Chalkboard Card Set by Tessa - #cards #cardset #chalkboard #markers #twine #stickers #clearstamps #janesdoodles, #giftset

I used the adorable Little Miss Mia Stamp Set for this set of cards.  Aren't they fun!  I chose one image for each card and stamped them using white pigment ink.  It really does look like a chalkboard!

SRM Stickrs Blog - A Chalkboard Card Set by Tessa - #cards #cardset #chalkboard #markers #twine #stickers #clearstamps #janesdoodles, #giftset

The sentiments are from the We've Got Your Sticker - Hello Sticker Sheet. I chose the white ones because they look just like chalk on top of the black paper!

SRM Stickrs Blog - A Chalkboard Card Set by Tessa - #cards #cardset #chalkboard #markers #twine #stickers #clearstamps #janesdoodles, #giftset

Once my images were stamped, I finished building the cards.  I added a bit of patterned paper from Simple Stories I Am 6x6 pad to each one along with some fun Baker's Twine.  These were so quick and fun to make!!

The box had to be just as cute as the cards, right?  Here is a closer look.

SRM Stickrs Blog - A Chalkboard Card Set by Tessa - #cards #cardset #chalkboard #markers #twine #stickers #clearstamps #janesdoodles, #giftset

I painted it using the Easy Chalkboard Marker in a swiping motion for a messy edged look.  It worked really well, even on the shiny surface of the box.  Once it was dry, I added a bit of washi tape and patterned paper.  I wrapped it with a bit of Buttercream Baker's Twine and finished it with a bow.  Lastly, I pulled out the fine tipped white Bistro Chalk Markers I drew some little doodles and a note:)  I love that you can write anything over the chalkboard surface!

Chalk Board Message Mug by Cathy A.

Wouldn't it be great to leave little messages when you give someone a coffee or tea?  Well now you can!  Cathy A here today to share a fun vinyl and chalkboard project with you.

Take a plain white mug, preferably with straight rather than tapering sides.  This makes it easier to add the vinyl. Then die cut a piece of black vinyl using Penny Black's A Pocket Full die to create a very fun edge.

SRM Stickers Blog - Chalkboard Message Mug by Cathy A - #chalkboard #mug #gift #vinyl #whitechalkboardmarker #DIY

Carefully add the vinyl to the mug making sure that there are no air bubbles as you go around. Your message mug is then ready to use.

Take the White Fine Tip chalk marker and shake before use, pump the nib several times when first use to get the chalk down to the nib and then write or doodle what ever message you want!

You can change the message each day by simply taking a damp cloth and wiping off the current message.  What a great way to personalize the start of each day!  And what a great gift idea!

Chalkboard Markers Yummy Jar by Annette

Welcome to day #2 of SRM's Chalkboard feature.  As we revealed yesterday, SRM has added Chalkboard markers to our line and over the next few weeks our design team will be playing with these incredible products.

First up is the EASY ChalkBoard Marker.  With this product, you can create a blackboard on just about any surface…. paper, fabric, wood, terra cotta, stretched canvas, glass and the list goes on and on!  Check out this YouTube to see how to use them:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msr9CpNBNcE#t=18

In addition of the EASY Chalkboard Marker, we have a selection of white and fluorescent markers for you to write on this blackboard surface you have created.  How fun is that?  Here's the complete selection of Chalkboard marker products

And now let's share with you a yummy project that Annette Allen made with these delicious products!

Who doesn't love a jar full of candy all decorated with some fun Chalk Board Markers.  On today's projects I am using the EASY extra-wide tip Chalk Board marker and Bistro Chalk Marker Neon Blue and some Twinery Honeydew twine.

I found these fun wood flags from Jillibean Soup. Just for fun I covered the wood flag with Marvy Uchida EASY Chalk Board Marker, and turned it into a tag. I love how the Chalk Board marker goes so perfectly on wood. Just another way to use these fun markers.  And I love that I don't have to get out chalkboard paint and brush for this job.  No fuss…no muss!

SRM Stickers Blog - Chalkboard Markers Yummy Jar by Annette - #chalkmarkers #fluorescent #twine #DIY

I got this fun jar and added more Marvy Uchida Chalk Board Marker to paper and created a diecut tag to label my jar with the Bistro Chalk Marker Neon Blue. Then wrapped the fun tag with Twinery twine and tied a fun bow.

A gift for ME. I could not resist a jar full of M&M's.

Thanks for stopping by.
Have a SWEET day.

In addition of the EASY Chalkboard Marker, we have a selection of white and fluorescent markers for you to write on the blackboard surfaces you create.  How fun is that?  Here's the complete selection of Chalkboard marker products

Now let's take a look at a very special project created by Tessa Buys.  Tessa used her Chalkboard markers on a glass vase to create a vase to match her St. Patrick's Day decorations.  How fun!   Here's Tessa telling us all about her project in her own words….

Nothing makes me happier than a vase of flowers in my living room, even if they are bright green to match my St. Patrick's Day decor. I used the Chalkboard Marker and Bistro Chalk Marker to amp up the "lucky" vibe of my vase:

SRM Stickers Blog - Chalkboard "Lucky Us" Vase by Tessa - #chalkboard #chalkmarkers #easy #blackboard #homedecor #stpatricksday #DIY

The broad tip of the Chalkboard Marker made applying strokes of the paint to the vase easy. Holding the vase from the inside with my left hand, I used my right hand to draw the chalkboard from the bottom of the vase upward. I varied the length of my strokes for interest.

SRM Stickers Blog - Chalkboard "Lucky Us" Vase by Tessa - #chalkboard #chalkmarkers #easy #blackboard #homedecor #stpatricksday #DIY

I allowed the chalkboard to dry very well before adding my "lucky us" sentiment with a white Bistro marker.

SRM Stickers Blog - Chalkboard "Lucky Us" Vase by Tessa - #chalkboard #chalkmarkers #easy #blackboard #homedecor #stpatricksday #DIY

Even though applying the marker to glass is not quite as user-friendly as other surfaces, it is still so much easier than a bottle of chalkboard paint and a brush. I can't wait to add chalkboard to things like mirrors and picture frames, now!
I love the results!  So totally fun and festive!

SRM Stickers Blog - Chalkboard "Lucky Us" Vase by Tessa - #chalkboard #chalkmarkers #easy #blackboard #homedecor #stpatricksday #DIY

I did some experimenting with the Chalkboard Marker and as I played, I learned a few things. Here are some tips and tricks!

1. Unlike most other surfaces, the marker is not permanent. However, you can still have a lot of fun creating with it, so long as you keep in mind that your design won't stand up to wear and tear over time. My design will easily wash off the glass vase with water and a bit of scrubbing.  It's perfect for seasonal decor or even for a special day!  Windows, mirrors, vases are all candidates for a chalkboard surface!

2. You do not need a second coat, as recommended for other surfaces. Just skip it.

3. You do not need to "prime" or "cure" the chalkboard surface before writing on it, as recommended for other surfaces. Just skip this step. If you like the look of a dusty chalkboard, scribble with regular chalk and then remove with a dry cloth or paper towel.

4. If you want to mask or tape off a section of glass, make sure your tape is really strong and consider the shape of your glass. I tried two different tapes (masking and painter's), but because my vase was round, I had a hard time getting a really good seal with the tape. The chalkboard ink ran underneath the tape and resulted in a feathered edge. If you're more practiced than I am with taping things off, you'll probably be more successful.

5. If you make a mistake while working with your Bistro marker, you probably won't be able to remove the writing like you can on other surfaces without removing some of the chalkboard. If you're nervous, you could lightly draw with a pencil where you want to draw with the Bistro marker.
