Thanksgiving Table by Karen

Hello!  Karen here today sharing some ideas and a video!

Thanksgiving is such a sweet time to spend with friends and family. It's fun to make the decor and table settings extra special. Here's a quick and easy idea for you to try. Tuck your fancy silverware in a small dotted pouch marked with the initial of each guest in vinyl. Don't forget to add a small card at each place setting for guests to record what they are most thankful for. Later, these cards make great additions in a planner or scrapbook with photos of the day's festivities and a record of Thanksgiving.

Watch it come together in this quick video.

Toy Box Plaque with Vinyl & Stickers by Tangii

Hello, Tangii here.  Today I'm playing with some Matte Vinyl.  I have a super cute Blonde Lab that is spoiled as all get out!!  This is one of his Toy Baskets and I've decided to make him a name plaque for it!

I also added a few stickers from my stash (We've Got Your Stickers - Sweet, Sentiment - Life Is Good, Express Yourself - Birthday)  For the ones that wouldn't show up on that black, I simply adhered them to some cardstock, cut them out and then adhered them to the plaque.

I apologize for not taking pictures along the way, honestly I was having so much fun with this and was so excited... I forgot, lol.  Ok so there are 3 layers here, the first being that pretty scalloped heart in Red Polka Dot Vinyl.  The 2nd is the heart in White Vinyl and on this one those paw prints are actually cut out so the Red Polka Dots show through (LOVE THIS!).  The 3rd layer is Huck's name, in Black Vinyl.

This is by far my favorite Vinyl of all of the brands I've used!  And I'm not saying that because this post is for SRM!  Ok, that's it for me, thanks for popping in!

For these projects I used We've Got Your Stickers - Sweet, Sentiment - Life Is Good, Express Yourself - Birthday, Red Polka Dot Vinyl, White Vinyl, Black Vinyl.
Happy Crafting!

Personalized Boxes Tutorial by Shanna

Hello SRM friends!! Shanna here, and today I am showing you a wonderful option for back to school organization that will give you what you need to keep your child's keepsakes for the school year all stored together neatly.  Of course I needed to personalize them, and SRM vinyl was the perfect choice!

First...you need to buy the containers... ready for your craftiness!

I decided to buy containers this year to store all the artwork and school projects that my boys will inevitably bring home that I cannot bear to part with... (Yes, I am one of "those" mamas that saves nearly EVERYTHING!) In order to pick what size container I needed, I looked at what my first grader brought home last year....He attends a Waldorf school, and they have a large focus on arts. It is a wonderful program, and he brings home a ton of great projects that he is very proud of.  The largest tends to be the watercolor paintings they do, so I kept that paper size in mind and went with the Sterilite 23 Qt. boxes that come with lids that snap on.  I found them at my local Walmart.

I love how you can fit so many things on one sheet of vinyl! After I designed and sized my files, I moved them around so I could save time and vinyl and fit everything on one 12x12 piece of vinyl.

I grabbed my matte white vinyl from SRM and an adorable black and white pin dot vinyl printed vinyl and designed a cut file in the software for my Silhouette Cameo. (I will list the design files at the bottom of the post).  I sized the files according to the measurements of my containers and VOILA!

After the cameo has finished cutting, it's time to weed the excess vinyl away. Then all you need to do is cut around the words use transfer tape to adhere the words to the boxes!

I always have enjoyed layering vinyl to give it an extra "pop", and chose to do that to the grade icons this time around.  I love the end result!  If layering vinyl intimidates you, there is no time like the present to start!  I am here if you have any questions along the way as well!

Easy peasy, and super functional storage for the upcoming school year's compendium of paper!

I love how these turned out!

How do you keep all the sweet things your child brings home organized??
 Any tips or tricks??
Until next time,
Shanna

Spring Vinyl Home Decor by Shantaie

Hello!  Shantaie here today with a vinyl project.
Creating a home we love is universal, almost every person has a place that evokes the feeling of home and warmth. Decorating is as deeply rooted as any nesting behaviour through the centuries and fills our hearts and homes with uniqueness and happiness.

I have not escaped the gravitational pull of seasonal decorating, as I'm sure many of you enjoy alongside me! Adhesive vinyl is a decorators best friend for the changing seasons,  easily added or removed to allow for a new look using the same piece is my favorite aspect of vinyl.

I adore this galvanized flower bucket, it works in amy room, for every holiday or season. For spring I have added a heart shaped butterfly design with pastel patterned vinyl cut with my Silhouette Cameo, remember you do not need a cutting machine to use vinyl, you can use punches, dies, or hand trim simple shapes or graphic designs.

Applying vinyl to a surface that is not flat takes a little adjustment, start in the center and slowly work out pressing into the hills and valleys with your fingers as you go.

Use a burnishing tool to smooth out any wrinkles, bubble or loose edges, and peel away transfer tape.

If you have a section that does not adhere, simply place the transfer tape back down and press firmly along the cut, take your time and burnish all cuts, this will only take a few extra moments and it will make your vinyl project a big success!

Fill with flowers, branches, or cotton and enjoy all spring!

Decorating with Vinyl by Samantha

Welcome to day #2 of our new Design Team introduction.  Today we feature Samantha Taylor who has been a longtime fan of SRM.  We are so excited to have her on our team.  Sit back and relax and enjoy this wonderful project that Samantha created using SRM's Vinyl.

Here's a little bit about Samantha in her own words:

My name is Samantha Taylor and I have a passion for combining crafting and creativity to beautify life. I live in a small town in rural Iowa with my husband and 2 boys. I'm a paper crafting fanatic who also loves photography. I enjoy making layouts, cards, mini albums, home decor items, party decorations, and Bible journaling. I love that crafting has allowed me to share what I love with people all over the world who also love creating pretty things and preserving memories. You can find more from me at www.taylorstamped.blogspot.com. I am so excited to share with you my love for the amazing products from SRM!

----------------------------
Hello! Samantha with you today. I'm sharing a little project that really brightened up my front porch. Decorating a flower pot with vinyl is a fun and easy way to dress up a space!

For this project all you'll need is a flower pot (mine is plastic, but metal or ceramic will work too), 2 colors of SRM vinyl (I used teal and pink striped), and your digital cutting machine.

I used my Silhouette to create the words, "Well, hello there!" and cut them from pink and white vinyl. To make the words pop more, I cut a shadow from turquoise vinyl to overlay the words onto. I used transfer tape to place the pink striped words onto the turquoise shadow, and then used that same transfer tape to place the whole thing onto my flower pot.

I have a little tip for adhering vinyl onto a curved surface. Take your image on the the transfer tape, and fold it in half. Start to adhere it to your curved surface from the center and work your way out. Press the vinyl onto the curved surface first, and then press the transfer tape around the image. The bubbles and wrinkles you tend to get from working on a curved surface will be in the transfer tape instead of the vinyl when you use this technique.

Remove the transfer tape, and you have a fun little flower pot to sit by your front door.

I recently picked up this little bistro table set to sit outside my front door. You can see where I pulled my inspiration to mix the pink vinyl with the turquoise vinyl.

Decorating a flower pot with vinyl is such a great way to personalize a flower pot for yourself or for a gift. What are you going to put on your flower pot?

Pineapple Mason Jars with Patterned Vinyl by Juliana

Hello everyone and Happy Summer! It's Juliana with you today and I'm sharing a set of Pineapple Mason Jar Drinking Glasses that I created using the fabulous SRM Stickers Patterned Vinyl. I love to dress up simple mason jars with vinyl and I thought it would be fun to give them a bit of a summer vibe with a pineapple shape I cut out using my Silhouette Cameo. I used the Yellow and Green Polka Dot Patterned Vinyl.

If you'd like to create your own set of Pineapple Mason Jar Drinking Glasses you can download the Pineapple Digital Cut File for free.

I sized the image to 3 inches in height and then cut the pieces from the various colors of vinyl. I then used transfer tape to help me place the images onto the jars. I then dressed up each jar with a bit of jute and fun paper straw.

I filled them with fresh lemonade, but there are so many great summertime drinks that would be fabulous served in these at your next get together!

Thanks for stopping by today!
HUGS!

NOTE FROM SUSAN:

Thank you Juliana for your wonderful projects throughout your terms.  Although we know that you have lots going on, I want our readers to know that they will still be seeing you from time to time here on the SRM Blog as a guest designer.  We love Juliana and she loves her SRM!

★Hooray USA!★ by Shannon

Hi all, Shannon here, July 4th is coming up!

★

This holiday is so much to our family. It's my sweet girl Mackenzie's favorite holiday. She loves fireworks. Karl loves watching her happy face light up and listening to her laughter. Patrick loves all of the "foods" he can eat in celebratory amounts of glee...though Patrick just loves food in general right now, he's 13.

I love stars and red, white and blue and all the day symbolizes.

I created a 5X7 frame for my mantle celebrating the USA. I used a ton of SRM goodness. There is A LOT of SRM goodness to choose from!

★

Here is the frame, it's actually a "shadow box" type frame, which works perfect for someone like me who layers "all the things"…☺

If you take a closer look at the details, you'll see twine, labels, sticker stitches, borders, tiny borders, patterned vinyl and even sequins.

Personalized Notebooks with SRM Vinyl by Juliana

Hello SRM Stickers Fans! It's Juliana with you here today to share how to alter simple notebooks with SRM Stickers fabulous adhesive vinyl.

I started with two simple notebooks from a local crafts store, Yes, they were cute in their original state, but they really called to me for a little color. That's were SRM's new patterned vinyl came into play! I began by selecting two colors for each notebook and with my niece's favorite colors in mind.

Next, I cut the patterned vinyl to just slightly larger than the size of the notebook. I peeled of the backing paper and slowly adhered the vinyl to the book. I recommend peeling off the backing paper as you go so that you avoid getting bubbles in the vinyl. However, if you do get a bubble, use a straight pin to poke the bubble and remove the air. Gently rub your finger over it and the hole that you poked with disappear. How's that for a fun little tip?!

I used the solid vinyl and cut strip  of it to cover the binding.  To add the initial, I cut the letter using my Silhouette Cameo and adhered it to the front cover using Transfer Tape.

The final decorative touch was a little tassel bookmark I created using twine in the following colors: Solid Twine in Marigold and Blossom and Baker's Twine in Lilac and Ocean. And of course they match perfectly with some pens from the Le Pen's Bright Set. I just love how the SRM Stickers vinyl added new life and loads of color to these simple little notebooks. Now I know my niece's are going to love them!

Spring Gardening Mason Jar by Juliana

Hello all! Juliana here with you today to share a spring themed project using the new SRM Stickers Patterned Vinyl. I used three of the new colors to create a trio of Spring Gardening Mason Jar Gifts. These would make a perfect gift for Mother's Day and they are really quite easy to create.

Using my Silhouette Cameo, I cut a butterfly from each of the different vinyl colors and then adhered it to the front of the jar.

Next, I tied a small metal garden charm to the top of the jar using a piece of burlap ribbon.

To attach the silk flower to the lid, I carefully poked a hole in the top of the lid.  I then cut off the stem, leaving about a 1/2 inch and stuck the flower into the hole.

To add to the gift, I filled each jar with several packets of seeds in a variety of flowers and herbs.

And here are closeups of the 3 different jar I created.

I think this would make a fabulous Mother's Day gift and it would certainly be perfect for all the gardeners out there!

HUGS!
