Shery Russ is here with us today with a fabulous project, an 8" by 10" mixed media canvas PLUS a video featuring the Scalloped Circle Punched Pieces. All of our design team members are loving these punched pieces! The are on almost every project. As soon as Shery saw her Punched Pieces, she wanted to use them in a mixed media project. It's interesting that something as simple as punched scalloped circles have become such a Design Team favorite!
Shery partially stamped a daisy (one she had illustrated) on 3 white large scalloped circle punched pieces, watercolored them with Inktense blocks, and then inked/sponged the edges with Ranger archival ink, Coffee.
She layered the large punched pieces with black medium scalloped circles. See her video and how she has added SRM 4" Doilies and black Sticker Stitches to the mix.
To create the textured background on the canvas, Shery started by adhering designer paper with a newsprint design using gel medium. Next, she applied an uneven coat of gesso all over to lighten the background. She used modeling paste onto the 12" by 12" Love Post and Sketch Grid stencils from The Crafter's Workshop. Shery simply built on the background from there, adding distress paints, Gelatos, and rub-ons as she went along. Shery also added some Sticker Stitches and finished the canvas by partially stamping a script stamp all over. I love how so many different products that are probably in your stash can be used together with SRM products to create so many amazing projects.
Here's another look at the finished canvas. Shery's got a video showing how she made this from start to finish and you'll find it HERE.
I hope you're inspired by Shery's canvas and that you enjoyed the video! I love how SRM's Clear Stickers are perfect for Mixed Media and I'm tickled how much Shery loves her Punched Pieces and how she's added them into the Mixed Media mix. Fantastic project!
