Quilt Cards, Step by Step by Nina

Welcome to another Fabulous Friday at SRM Stickers. You know we always have something special for you on Fridays! Nina is here today to share a step by step tutorial on making quilt cards. She did a great job of walking us through her project, and her use of SRM Stickers on her Cosmo Cricket quilt cards is a perfect touch!

Mass Producing Quilt Cards, Supply List:

3 sheets of coordinating patterned papers (I used Cosmo Cricket Material Girl collection)
1-1/2 sheets of cardstock for card base (Papertrey Ink Berry Sorbet)
1 sheet of coordinating cardstock (Gina K Designs Ocean Mist)
Sewing machine
Ceam or white fabric
Buttons (Berry Sorbet buttons)
Twine or floss
Paper trimmer
SRM Stickers (square shaped stickers will work best):
Sticker Sentiments - Birthday, Thank You and Thinking of You
Measurements (included in the instructions)

Instructions:

Step 1: Cut 3 panels (3-7/8" x 5-1/8") of coordinating, double-sided patterned papers.

Step 2: Cut up the 3 patterned paper panels together to make smaller rectangles.

Step 3: Make 3 A2 card bases and 3 panels (4" x 5-1/4") of coordinating cardstocks.

Step 4: Arrange the smaller rectangles of patterned papers onto cardstock panels, making sure you leave a narrow border around. Adhere patterned paper pieces.

Steps 5: Sew zig zag stitches on the seams and running stitches around each piece.

Step 6: Finish the quilt backgrounds.

Step 7: Adhere sticker on a small piece of cloth. Trim around.

Step 8: Pull fibers to make frayed edges.

Step 9: Adhere cloth to quilt background. String buttons and adhere.

Step 10: Mount piece onto card base.

If you have some crafty time this weekend and use Nina's tutorial, please link us to it! Our Cosmo Cricket week gets firmly underway on Monday. I'll be featuring several projects, everyday, using Cosmo and SRM Stickers, a perfect match! Have a great weekend!

  6. This is a such a neat idea!!!

I guess I need to ask though, (this may sound foolish...) can I just use my regular machine, or do I need a special machine to do this kind of thing?

    Thanks,
    Kathy

  7. Hi, Kathy...I use a regular cheap Brother sewing machine. My mom bought it for me to get me started with sewing. It seriously collected dust until I started making cards and using it. :-)
