Felt Bow Tutorial by Tessa

You might remember Tessa's amazing Year of Cards project, HERE. Tessa Buys is back with a tutorial on creating the beautiful handmade felt bows she used for her mini cards... Enjoy!

SUPPLIES: hot glue gun, glue, ruler, and scissors

1. Cut a strip of felt that is about 5 inches long and 1 inch wide. Cut another piece that is about 2-3 inches long and 0.5 inches wide. Last, cut two pieces that are about 1 inch square (not pictured).

2. Make a loop out of the large strip. Glue the ends together.

3. Pinch the center to create a bow shape.

4. Wrap the small strip around the bow, using glue to secure it in the back. Cut off the excess felt.

5. If you'd like the little tails, cut notches into the 1 inch square pieces of felt. Glue them to the back side of your bow.

If you want to make a bow that looks pretty on both sides, don't add the notched pieces to the ends, but add a whole notched strip on the backside before pinching and looping the center.

Have a great weekend, we'll be here all next week with much more!

A Year of Cards by Tessa

Tessa Buys took on a big assignment this month - creating a year of cards using our Mini Calendar Stickers. She did a fantastic job and now she has handy cards she can grab each month for gift tags, thank you notes, etc.

Here's what Tessa had to say about her project; "Making a year's worth of cards was sort of an overwhelming idea until I decided to come up with a simple recipe that I could follow for each card.

I chose three patterned papers for each month that tied in with the theme/season/holiday of that particular month. I was able to use up quite a few scraps! I used one 4 x 5.25 inch piece of patterned paper for the base, one 4x2 inch piece of patterned paper for the strip across, and one 4x0.5 inch piece of patterned paper to top the strip. I matted the calendar stickers on white cardstock and used foam adhesive to attach them to the cards. I added rhinestones to the calendars on holidays or special days. I topped each one off with a coordinating handmade, felt bow and a little splatter of white mist. Once I had my recipe planned, the entire set only took about an hour to put together."

Supplies: Mini Calendar Stickers, decorative border.
